Lead Software Engineer - Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) at Boeing Normal, AL

Dependent on the award of the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program to The Boeing Company, Boeing's Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) organization in Huntsville, AL is looking for multiple Lead Software Engineers (Level 4) capable of contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification).
ADaPS specializes in executing rapid prototyping and development programs utilizing small, responsive Agile teams.
ADaPS will be staffing the NGI Software Integrated Product Team (SW IPT) from current new engineers to create a dynamic and engaged software development team.
ADaPS (an organization of over 100 engineers spanning software, systems, and mechanical domains) supports programs across the entire portfolio of Boeing products including Space Launch Systems (SLS), Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Commercial Space Crew Transportation System (CCTS), Air Force Bomber modernization, and advanced missile defense efforts such as in the case of NGI.
As such this position, while dependent on a Boeing award of the NGI program, is not exclusive to that effort but may involve any of the other efforts for which ADaPS is engaged.
Position
Responsibilities:
This Mid-Level (level 4) software development position will bring expertise to bear both in individually and in a team environment to include but not limited to:
Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification).
Work in small to medium sized Agile teams composed of diverse engineering skills to tackle complex problems on a variety of programs.
Responsible for developing technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings in support of program requirements.
Guide the implementation and testing of designs by less experienced engineers.
Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.
Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.
Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.
Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects.
Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
Work Authorization:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.
S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
(Post Start)Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
5 or more years of experience programming in at least one or more of the following languages:
C, C++, Java, Ada, C#, Python.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience developing software for real-time embedded systems.
Expertise in debugging and troubleshooting technical problems involving computer memory or timing considerations.
Experience with systems architecture, requirements analysis, test, and verification.
Experience with Agile software development.
Knowledge of Radar, communications, missile, GN&C (guidance, navigation & control), or similar technology.
Experience leading software development engineers or teams.
Typical Education/
Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.
g.
Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.
g.
PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation.
